WAKE SOME SNAKES
MATERIALITY: TIMBER, CONCRETE, RUST
Wake Some Snakes is an exploration into the relationship between man and nature, and the resilience shown by certain animal species in light of perpetual destruction and development across our growing cities. Snakes have managed to stand their ground to a greater degree than many other species; forced out of habitat through deforestation for expansion of towns and cities, snakes occasionally remind us that they are not unable to also occupy the spaces and structure we have claimed as our own.
The timber represents the forests we forced the snakes out of, the concrete represents the cities we imposed upon them, the rust represents the blood spilled through snake bites when we are reminded that we evicted them from their natural homes held for millions of years until humans came along and disrespected every single facet of the natural world.
